Final Week!

It's hard to believe this is the final week of classes for this semester and for my entire time at Gardner-Webb. I have gained much knowledge from my studies here that will undoubtedly serve me as I adventure into the professional world assuming the role of "student" and "teacher" next semester. I'm sure the assignments and expectations of this class have covered every professional teaching standard multiple times. Perhaps my favorite part of this class is the great amount of collaboration we were able to do with one another as future teachers. I believe each class helped us to fulfill Standard 1B, "Teachers demonstrate leadership in the school." An essential part of this is working with fellow personnel, teaching and learning from one another. Today, we continued the fulfillment of this Standard by working in groups, linking our Best Practices to the stages of reading and processes of writing.
This class was overwhelming and even intimidating at times, but I learned so much in it and really enjoyed it! I'll miss you all and wish you the best as future teachers.

  1. Chrysalis-
It has been a joy being in the music department with you and this class. You are going to be a rocking music teacher! It's crazy that our time really is done. No more late rehearsals, struggling to get our senior recitals together, and no more classes. All that is left is student teaching! It is a great and terrifying feeling. But I'll speak for the both of us when I say, GWU has prepared us and we are ready to teach!

  2. We definitely did a lot of collaboration together in groups. It was fun having class with you and struggling through group projects like the BPH with you. Good luck as you student teach!

  3. After seeing your lesson presented in the classroom, I have no doubt in my mind that you'll kill student teaching! I have to say, it's kind of cool seeing this transition from being just a student to actually student teaching. Like, you'll actually have a classroom. It's the beginning of the rest of your life and that's exiting to see, yet scary to believe that, hey, I'm going to be doing the same thing in a few years.

PS: Thanks for answering my question! You're the best!!!
